To summarize..."Attention Splatter" is when you spend the day focusing on random things like email, the internet, your cell phone and any of a number of distractions that prevent you from ever really focusing on one thing long enough to be effective.
I love this concept, because that perfectly describes many of my days as a single parent. I will be very productive putting out fires and multi-tasking...but I get to the end of the day not having really accomplished anything of major importance. So I was inspired and motivated to eliminate "Attention Splatter" as much as possible.
The following day I woke up ready to hit the ground running! I checked my email and then closed it down so it wouldn't be a distraction. I settled in to focus on accounting and paying bills. It was amazing how productive I felt as I resisted the temptation to allow my attention to wander. Then it happened....
My 8 year old daughter came running upstairs and started throwing up!!! This is not a joke! You can't make this kind of stuff up! Obviously accounting immediately took a back seat to cleaning up and getting my daughter in the bathtub!
Did someone say "SPLATTER"???
